WORKSHOP ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE
On the occasion of the Global Handwashing Day, Pragyata Foundation, along with Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj organized a health and hygiene workshop for adolescent girls of Govt. Senior Sec. School, S Block, DLF Phase III, Gurugram. The purpose of the workshop was to spread awareness among them about menstrual hygiene, the use of sanitary pads, and ways of taking care of their personal hygiene. Students of Ryan International School spoke to them about the health disadvantages of using unclean clothes instead of sanitary pads, the basic ways of maintaining good hygiene, and how to dispose these napkins safely. Further, they distributed free handmade and cost-efficient sanitary pads, and basic hygiene material like toothpastes and toothbrushes among the girls. Subsequently, the girls came up with queries regarding menstruation which the students answered. Some girls who initially hesitated on talking about this sensitive issue later approached the students with their thoughts. It was a fun and enriching session and we encourage more and more people to initiate conversations about this issue as this is how we can contribute towards breaking the stigma prevalent towards menstruation.
