MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN

As a part of our initiative to end the stigma towards mental illnesses, a mental health awareness workshop was conducted by the team of #sayyestohealthymind at Government Girls Primary School, Nathupur, Gurgaon to raise awareness among the children about mental health issues and mental illnesses. The workshop consisted of fun-filled activities on stress and anger management, emotional intelligence, meditation etc. The children were taught the meaning of mental health, how to identify a mentally ill person, how to normalise mental health issues and how to help a person suffering for mental illnesses. The interactive session involved kids sharing their understanding of the topic which made the workshop even more interesting. With the help of emojis, they were taught how to manage the experience and expression of emotions, how to identify and label emotions accurately and how to deal with and control negative emotions such as anger and jealousy. This was followed by live demonstration of meditation exercises which one can use to calm oneself down. A stress releasing activity with balloons was was also conducted. It served as a great learning experience for the kids.
