Empowering Urban Pollution Solutions with Medicinal Plants
Pragyata Foundation organized a seminar titled ‘Multidisciplinary approaches in studies of Medicinal Plants for tackling pollution for Urban population’ under the patronage of National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi at Mahipalpur, South West Delhi District on 26th March, 2023, The event witnessed a large audience from affluent neighborhoods, including residential areas of South Delhi and South West Delhi, and was graced by eminent dignitaries from various ministries of the Government, professors, vaids, Ayurvedic doctors, environmentalists, ICL India experts, MOEFCC social activists, RWA's, school and college students, and NGOs.The highlight of the event was a panel discussion on medicinal plants by experts drawn from various fields.Dr. Shailendra Singh, Mr. S.K. Aggarwal, Dr. Pooran Singh, Dr. Rama Bharti and Ms. Anupama Chitranjan we’re the panelists for panel discussion. The discussions revolved around tackling pollution by taking various measures, and school students participated in various competitions related to the topic. The event was pathbreaking, according to Mamta Yadav, the founder of Pragyata Foundation, in terms of tackling pollution by taking various measures.Dr. Jeetendra Kumar Vaishya – Research Officer, NMPB, Ministry of AYUSH, Dr. Yogita Munjal – Deputy Director, SMPB, Ministry of AYUSH & Dr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Chairman - Examining Body for para medical training for Bhartiya Chikitsa, were the main honored guests of this event. They delivered informative speeches on the topic. The members of the Ministry were felicitated. Research presentation & Declamation compitions were conducted for school & college students and the winners were given certificates & Awards for their efforts. Panelists discussed various aspects of this topic according to their expertise. Mrs. Mamta Yadav expressed her gratitude to all the guests and panelists.In addition, the event recognized prominent members of civil society and social activists for their work, including Ms. Alka Joon,Social Activist, Ms. Ameena Talwar, Brand Ambassador, South Delhi MCD, Ms. Arti Bahadur, & Mr. Arun Roongta. Medicinal plants and Brochures were distributed among all the participants with awareness about their uses and benefits. The feedback of all the participants was very positive.Mrs. Mamta Yadav also announced that medicinal plants would be distributed door-to-door in the societies of South West Delhi district with an informative brochure after 2-3 days of this event, and the foundation would continue to spread awareness through various means, such as online and offline awareness sessions.Overall, the event was a great success and marked an important milestone in the efforts to tackle pollution and promote the use of medicinal plants for the urban population.
